enough was said as per above...

it's incredibly intriguing how so many threads were there talking about accidental merch'ing of good weapons yet people still do it...

my way of doing it: get a quest item (un sellable) somewhere in pelt puch, then chuck everything i want to merch below it... so at merch, just go to the last item and start clicking selling...

yah all these confirmations would be crazy for selling stuff. and sometimes, i want to just sell some stupid orange dye to a merchant instead of running to a dye trader for the extra 9 gold.. it'd be like what happens in factions each time u try to enter a town after a quest

"U are about to enter this town"
click
"Would u like to enter town now?"
click
"Are u sure U want to leave this area?"
click
"Does everybody in your group want to leave this area?"
Click
"There is no going back! U are truly going to enter town now, and it is impossible for u or any member of ur party to ever come back to this area! Ever!"
CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK.. and suddenly i've clicked "no", and i'm back at square one

takes longer to confirm that yes, i DO in fact want to enter town, than it does to load the town for the first time. if i had to go thru that each time i wanted to merch something, i'd just start dropping stuff in explorable areas. or destroying it via my garbage can.

in fact, i think garbage cans are more dangerous than the merchants, since if ur trying to drag something to a bag on the normal inventory (not the "all bags" view) u can accidentally drop it on the trash can instead of the bag of choice, if ur lagging.

I can understand having a confirmation for equipped or customized items, since that's the only way a-net has of knowing what items u value personally (maybe a new ranger would be heartbroken over merch'ing his blue req 5 12-23 bow) but that's where i'd draw the line

Hers one for ya guys: Put a quest item, or non-merchanable item (candy cane weapons anyone?) In front of any valuable item. Then, no matter how many times u click, youll never be able to go past that item to sell anything nice.

*Clicks merchant*
"Are you sure you want to sell items at this merchant, you might get better prices at the traders or human players"
*Clicks yes*
*Clicks sell on some white junk*
"Are you sure you want to sell [x] for [c] gold peices?"
*Clicks yes*
"This is our double asking system in place just to make us look better when people say they sold stuff by accident in angry support emails, please confirm your sell by Entering this number then clicking yes"
*Enters the hard to read 5-6 character code, and presses yes*
"Your sell has been processed, click ok to recieve your gold"
*Clicks Yes*

*Starts process over*

What would more clicks have helped?

By thier own wording it was sold for refusing to read what they sold and clicking so fast while lagging. Adding more clicks doesn't magically make people mouse over an item or bother to read the text (see the above about asking to go into a town - it seems fairly common). It just adds more stuff to ignore or repeatadly click waiting on the lag to end.

At least a buy back would solve that, but I would generally prefer the current method. Not sure how hard/easy it would be for them add and there are simple easy ways to *not* sell your good item - even if you feel you have to have the "click as fast as possible" syndrome. I would rather they spend thier time elsewhere.

At least it is easy to build you another sword that works perfect in your build, it's not like WoW where it might take a LONG time to replace.

I am talking about general merchants, not material/dye traders. (To clarify, since it seems to be needed: If I want to sell a black dye or 50 jadeites, I'll sell to a player or the corresponding vendor. If I accidentally sell to a [Merchant], I'd lose money.)
As for what items would need confirmation; no need to get worked up. This was a suggestion from a player, not a "in your face" from A.net.
Even implementing drag and drop could be of some help. And maybe make items take their right place in the list instead of going to the bottom if you move items around with the merchants window open.

I think they should add new feature that allow player to lock items that prevent any locked items from selling to merchant.

if u put a quest item in front of all important items it wont let u sell a quest item and your items behind it will be safe

I just keep a jade wind orb infront of my good stuff. If you dont have a quest item or something, just put it in one of your bags and turn that bag off. Anyway, there was this guy who sold more than 50 ectos to the merchant because of lag

My son managed to delete one of his characters that had his CE Kuunavang in its inventory only a couple of days after getting it. Not quite the same thing, but I feel your pain.

Even after playing this game for a year, I still manage to sell the odd thing to the merchant I didn't mean to sell, and yes I do use the putting an unsellable item in the inventory.

The confirmation message for selling equipped items is a good step forward, but it would be even nicer if you could mark all items you did not want to sell.

I use it too. What happened is that I found another purple item in a mission, equipped it to see what it looked like, and swapped it with my Crystalline again.

After I finished the mission (or actually not finished since we got killed ) I decided to pay the merchant a visit and sell that one purple I found in the mission.

I had only some orbs in my inventory and a purple item. For some odd reason the Crystalline and the purple I found in the mission swapped again... and I didn't look at the name nor the picture when selecting the purple item in the sell list of the merchant, cause I was 100% sure I swapped them back later on (cause im not gonna tank with a staff obviously).

But yea shit happens like I saw in this thread, Malice selling a Sup. Absorption which were worth 100k back then to the merchant... another guy selling 50 ectos for what, 5k to the merchant while he could get 350k for it nowadays...

You guys know that there is an option to hide the items in certain bags of your inventory.

Lets take me as an example, I have my armor in the bottom bag, weapons in the top bag.
At the merchant these 2 bags are not checked. There is a green check mark for each bag/backpack/belt that if unchecked does not show the items in that bag/backpack/belt.
